Grizzlies claim share of Wesco 4A crown | Baseball

Glacier Peak earned a share of the Wesco 4A baseball championship.

The Grizzlies outslugged Monroe 11-8 to win the second game of a two-game series Wednesday, May 3, at Glacier Peak High School.

Glacier Peak (10-4 in the league, 13-6 overall) tied for first place with Mount Vernon (10-4, 15-5) and earned a first round district playoff bye. The Bearcats edged the Grizzlies 3-2 on Tuesday, May 2 at Monroe High School.

The Grizzlies, the No. 2 seed via a preseason tiebreaker draw, face either Cascade or Jackson at 4 p.m., Monday, May 8, at Glacier Peak High School.

Glacier Peak scored three runs in the bottom of the first and led 6-3 after two innings. The Grizzlies had an 11-4 advantage heading into the top of the sixth before the Bearcats rallied for four runs to cut the lead to three runs.

Brandon West, Michael Vickery and Deven Kamihara each drove in three runs for the Grizzlies.
