A public hearing on the site plan application for The Farm has been scheduled for next Thursday, May 23, in the City Council chambers in City Hall beginning at 6p.m.

The application under consideration for the 17-plus acres in the East Gateway Urban Village district to be subdivided into 14 separate buildings for a mixed-use development that will provide 354 workforce apartment homes above approximately 100,000 square feet of commercial space.

The term workforce housing mean the apartments will be limited to individuals and families that earn about 60 percent of the median income of the homeowners in adjacent communities. For The Farm, that will be approximately $60,000 per year.

Of the 14 buildings planned for the development, six of the buildings would be one-story commercial structures, while six would have apartment homes in four and five-story configurations above ground floor retail businesses. In addition to the primary structures, four single story garage buildings are proposed adjacent to the existing single-family homes along the southern property boundary and one five-story parking garage has been proposed for residential parking.

The development includes associated parking, stormwater facilities, public plazas and open spaces with landscaping and walking paths that connect to the existing trails on adjacent properties.  A wetland buffer reduction has also been included in the proposed plan.  The reduction is offset with on- and off-site mitigation that results in a regional benefit.  Access to the proposed development will be from 132nd Street SE via 39th Avenue SE, 41st Avenue SE and a private drive aisle.

The staff report went online at www.cityofmillcreek.com on May 13.  Additional information is available from Senior Planner Christi Schmidt at (425) 921-5738 or christis@cityofmillcreek.com.  Any person who would like to present testimony may do so at the meeting, or writing by 5p.m. on the day of the meeting to the City Clerk.
