Council fills seats on 2 boards

Sep 15, 2017

The Mill Creek City Council acted quickly upon their return from a month-long hiatus to fill vacancies on two boards during the council meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

The council followed the recommendation of Councilmember Donna Michelson to appoint Jeanne Smart to the city’s Art and Beautification Board. Smart is a former educator and principal in Seattle and Edmonds who currently works in real estate.

There are still two vacant seats on the Art and Beautification Board.

Restaurant owner Diane Symms was selected from three applicants to serve a three-year term on the Mill Creek Design Review Board. Symms owns Lombardi’s Restaurant on the Bothell-Everett Hwy and lives in Mukilteo.

Members of the council noted the quality of all three applicants. They urged Alexandra Hemmerlein and Norene Penn to apply again at a later date.
