ECC panel to discuss civil discourse, civic engagement

6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Edmonds Community College Black Box Theatre in Mukilteo Hall (20310 68th Ave. W. in Lynnwood). The college present a free panel discussion on “Civil Discourse for Civic Engagement,” serving as a community introduction to the value of civil discourse for civic engagement to promote our common welfare and to develop avenues of respect for varied views. The panel will be moderated by Bob Drewel, former county executive of Snohomish County and former executive director of the Puget Sound Regional Council. Panelists include Becky Ballbach of Everett Public Schools, Edmonds CC student trustee Naol Debele, Jon Bauer of The Daily Herald, Teresa Wippel of, state Sen. Marko Liias, Edmonds Mayor Dave Earling, Janice Green of the NAACP and Kathy Rice of the Dispute Resolution Center of Snohomish County. This event is sponsored by Edmonds CC in partnership with Sno-Isle Libraries, the NAACP, the League of Women Voters of Snohomish County, and the American Association of University Women.
