Garden Tour is all about giving back

Courtesy of: Lila Johnson A variety of green leaves and white impatiens create a calm feeling in this shady garden in The Parks neighborhood of Mill Creek. The calming walkway is just one of six gardens that will be featured during the annual Garden Tour sponsored by the Mill Creek Garden Club this Saturday from 11a.m. until 4 p.m.

There is a lot more than blooming flowers and sweet smelling gardenias to like about the annual Garden Tour sponsored by the Mill Creek Garden Club scheduled to begin Saturday morning, June 22.

All proceeds from the annual Mill Creek Garden Club Tour ticket sales and a percentage of the artisan sales from this year’s extravaganza goes back to the community through Mill Creek Garden Club's "Giving through Gardening" grant program.

The club is engaged in our community. The 2018-19 list of projects awarded included over $7,000 in projects such as a automatic irrigation system for Hope Creek Community Garden which benefits the Mill Creek Community Food Bank; funds for "garden classrooms" were awarded at both Discovery and Olivia Park elementary schools through the Farmer Frog organization; a 5th grade eco-science classroom project was award at Forest View Elementary and a sensory garden for a special needs classroom at North Creek High School.

Every ticket to the Garden Tour will go a long way to toward teaching the benefits of gardening to the next generation.  Be inspired and give back.
