Glacier Peak’s Kiley Hubby put on a dominant performance at the Region 1 girls wrestling tournament.

Hubby recorded back-to-back pins and then defeated Stanwood’s Lindsey Crawford 11-0 in the 145-pound finals Saturday, Feb. 10, at Sedro-Woolley High School.

The Glacier Peak standout is looking to move up on the podium at Mat Classic XXX after taking third place in the 140 division as a freshman at last year’s state tournament.

Jackson also will be sending a wrestler to the state tournament for the first time since 2009.

Sophomore Maggie Telford took fourth place in the 100 division. This is Telford’s first year of wrestling.

After losing a 12-9 decision to Ballard’s Kayla Rogers, Telford defeated Snohomish’s Mikayla Jardine 8-6 and then knocked off Sedro-Woolley’s Shanoah Shanes to advance to the third/fourth place match. Rogers won 5-2 in the rematch to take third.

Jackson’s Leah Leeders finished fifth at 140 and is a state alternate.

Telford and Leeders both placed third at the Sub-Regional tournament Feb. 3, at Bellingham High School. Teammate Kylie Rexroat was eighth at 110 and Glacier Peak’s Kelsie Thuringer took fifth at 170.

The state wrestling championships are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Feb. 16-17 in the Tacoma Dome.
