Timberwolves set numerous personal records

The Jackson track and field teams posted a pair of solid victories over Mariner in the final Wesco 4A dual meet before spring break.

The Wolfpack boys outpointed the Marauders 90.2-54.8, while the girls coasted to a 107-43 victory Thursday, March 29, at Goddard Stadium.

Senior Daniel Arias posted individual victories in all three sprint races.

Arias finished with a personal best time of 11.20 seconds in the 100 and season’s best times of 22.53 in the 200 and 51.27 in the 400.

The Timberwolves also dominated the distance races, with Joseph Skoog capturing the 1,600 in 4:44.14 and Mateo Rivera taking the 3,200 in 10:26.50. Jackson runners finished second through ninth in the 1,600 and second through fifth in the 3,200.

Theodrist Davis won the 110 high hurdles in a personal best time of 17.30, while teammate Connor Flynn finished first in the 300 hurdles in 43.30. Devin Childe set a personal record with a throw of 113 feet, 6 inches, in winning the discus. Ben Brinkley set a personal record with threw of 137-3 in the javelin.

Bradley Wilson and Spencer Ajay tied for first in the high jump in 5-02 and Zachary Hubbard had a personal best mark of 12-6 in winning the pole vault.

Jackson’s Brooklyn Coleman finished first and set personal records in the girls long and triple jumps.

Coleman won the long jump with a leap of 14-10, and captured the triple jump in 28-11.

Jackson’s Emma Sewell ran a personal best time of 1:04.80 in winning the 400 and Allyson Kim took the 800 in 2:38.05. Anna Skoog captured the 1,600 in 5:28.95 and Taylor Bird won the 3,200 in a personal best time of 12:19.00.

The Wolfpack’s 800 relay team of Emma Sewell, Sarah Sewell, Kathryn Cheng and Ellie Friedrichsen finished first in 1:56.58 and the 1,600 relay squad of Kim, Audrey Tracy, Emma Atkinson and Skoog won in 4:40.00.

Emilia Peterson won the shot put with a personal best throw of 31-5.5 and Tia Christensen took the discus with a throw of 106-1.

Brenna Board won the javelin with a throw of 86-7 and Audrey Kim finished first in the pole vault with a mark of 8-0.

Mariner’s Suzy Pace was a triple event winner. The senior standout won the 110 hurdles in 15.81, the 300 hurdles in 48.21 and the high jump with a mark of 5-2.

Jackson’s Joseph Skoog won the boys 3,200 in 9:38.12 at the Eastmont Invitational Friday, March 30, at Wildcat Stadium in East Wenatchee. Anna Skoog finished second in the girls 3,200. James Ryan placed third in the javelin.

Jackson is scheduled to compete in the Birger Solberg Invitational Saturday, April 7, at Civic Stadium in Bellingham and takes on Shorewood on Thursday, April 12, at Shoreline Stadium.
