Jackson is hoping to build on its late season success at the Wes-King 4A District volleyball tournament.

The Timberwolves finished third in the Wesco 4A and won four out of their last five matches.

Jackson takes on Mount Si in a first round district tournament match at 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, at Issaquah High School.

“Our ability to play well comes down to our serve-receive,” Jackson coach Mindy Staudinger said. “It’s something we continue to work on all season.”

The Wolfpack also continue to focus on starting out strong. In one of the final regular season matches, Jackson dropped the first set to Kamiak 25-12 but came back to win the next three – 25-21, 25-17, 25-21.

“We often can be a slow starting team,” Staudinger said. “We just have to have a competitive nature and mindset. As soon as we get out onto the court, we need to focus on the game at hand.”

The Jackson offense is led by junior captain/outside hitter Paige Wilson, who is among the team leaders in kills per set. Junior setter Lydia Robison also has emerged as a strong leader.

Glacier Peak (8-6, 8-6) secured the No. 4 seed to districts and will face Bothell at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, at North Creek High School.

WILDCATS OPEN WITH WIN: Archbishop Murphy defeated Sammamish 3-1 in a first-round 2A district tournament match Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Archbishop Murphy High School. The Wildcats are scheduled to take on Blaine on Thursday, Nov. 1, after the Beacon’s deadline.
