Jackson heads into this weekend’s district tournament with a pair of seniors looking to make some memories.

Garrett Miller advanced to the district finals in the 182-pound division last year. This season he’s wrestling at 170.

“We’re hoping to get him back in the finals,” Jackson coach Matt McClinchy said.

Teammate James Ryan was a regional alternate last season and will be competing at 160.

The Timberwolves are a sophomore dominated squad but a team with a lot of talent. Jackson finished the regular season with a 3-4 Wesco 4A record and an overall mark of 7-4.

“They (sophomores) have stepped up and been able to get the job done,” McClinchy said.

The 4A Sub-Regional/District tournament is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Feb. 2-3, at Glacier Peak High School. The top four finishers advance to the regional tournament.

“It’s going to be interesting to see how the sophomores do at districts,” McClinchy said.

“A lot of sophomores are four seeds. They’re right on the bubble. … It’s been exciting this year.
