All of the hard work Jackson’s Joseph Skoog paid off in the biggest race of the season.

Skoog took third place at the 4A state boys cross country championships Saturday, Nov. 3, at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.

Skoog finished with a time of 15 minutes, 21.50 seconds, not far behind Mount Si’s Joe Waskom (15:16.20) and Eisenhower’s Jonas Price (15:21.50).

The Jackson senior made quite a climb up the standings from last year’s state meet, where he finished 41st overall.

“I’m proud of myself,” Skoog said. “It was definitely great to see it all come together, all the hard work. I used all of the things I learned through this season and the last couple of seasons.”

Jackson sophomore Brenden Charbeneau finished 32nd and senior Kane Borgal was 71st. Junior Nathaniel Shin took 77th and senior Shane Grossman placed 86th.

The Wolfpack finished sixth. Tahoma edged Central Valley 94 to 96 for the team title.

Glacier Peak’s Riley McDowell took 13th and teammate Elijah Lopez placed 46th. Tyler Tantra was 75th, Nathan Tastad was 85th and Carter Schmitt was 132nd. The Grizzlies placed ninth.
