The Mill Creek Little League 12-year-old all-star softball team is battling for a berth to the Little League World Series.

Mill Creek defeated Redmond 20-0 in the Washington state championship game July 11 to earn a second straight berth to the Western Regional Championships July 21-28 in San Bernardino, California.

The all-stars, representing Washington state, are scheduled to open play at regionals against Hawaii at 9 p.m., Saturday, July 22. Mill Creek plays Montana at 7:30 p.m., Monday, July 24. The Western Regional championship game is set for 6 p.m., Friday, July 28.

Mill Creek dominated the state tournament from start to finish, overwhelming its opponents. The all-stars opened with a 20-0 victory over North Whidbey and then followed with a 17-2 victory over Camas. Mill Creek then knocked off Redmond 7-1 in the semifinals to advance to the title contest.

The players got a rousing send-off when they visited with University of Washington softball coach Heather Tarr Tuesday, July 18, at Husky Softball Stadium in Seattle.

The Mill Creek all-stars are: Heleina Ah-Loe, Rachel Andrezejewski, Annie Coe, Macie Dean, Deirdre Delgado, Avery Hare, Alexis Jolivette, Avery Olson, Alexis Sicairos, Lily Tarbox, Lauren Whitley, Simone Williams and Kalia Zellmer. The manager is Daryl Stevens.
