Organizational meeting scheduled for new AMVET post

Jan 19, 2018

Officials from the state and national organization have been invited to attend an organizational meeting for the AMVETS Post 2018 in Mill Creek at 5p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29, in the City Council chambers at City Hall, 15728 Main St.

Air Force veteran Paul Frederickson has been working for months to attract the minimum number of veterans needed to establish an AMVET post in Mill Creek.

Any veteran who received an honorable discharge from the military is welcome to join the new post, according to Frederickson. The local airman served in both Korea and Vietnam.

Besides introductions, the tentative agenda for the first meeting will include an election of a slate of officers and determining a name for the local chapter.

“This is OUR post, not mine,” Frederickson wrote in a mass email distributed on Friday, Jan. 19. “We will be a team and focus on helping all veterans in need.  We will represent our veterans but also work in and for the people of Mill Creek as well as our surrounding communities. “
