Archbishop Murphy Wildcats

Coach: Danny Salonen, first season

Next game: vs. Providence, 7 p.m., Monday, April 23 at Archbishop Murphy High School

Top players: Dennis Walsh, Vincent Vaughn, Devin Moore, Cece Vaughn, Luke Humphrey

Outlook: The Wildcats, the defending league champions, are off to a slow start in 2018 with a 0-6 league record. Archbishop Murphy has only one senior on a roster that includes 12 freshmen and 10 sophomores. Walsh leads the Wildcats with eight goals.

 

Glacier Peak Grizzlies

Coach: Jean-Claude de Raoulx, second season.

Next game: vs. Kamiak, 8 p.m, Tuesday, April 24, at Kamiak High School.

Top players: Michel Shideler, Cole Russon, Caelan Briggs, Junho Lindsay, Jackson Berg, Jacob Anderson, Jackson Cunio, Trevor Meldrom, Daxton Jensen, Ryan Black, Daniel Almstead.

Outlook: The Grizzlies made the playoffs in their inaugural season and won their first playoff game. Four players were named to the all-conference team. Schideler leads Glacier Peak with 25 goals.

“The goal for this season is to help the boys learn how to best help themselves,” de Raoulx said. “The outlook?  We are currently 5-0 and we intend to continue to do our best.”

 

Jackson Timberwolves

Coach: Owen Corddry, first season (was assistant coach for three years)

Top players: Marcello Pellegrino, Jericho Timbol, Brendan Nirschl, Alex Franco, Mason Crane, Cole Hudson, and DJ Rice, Zach Anderson, Kolby Wilding, Brian Tyler

Outlook: The Timberwolves are a young team with some standout seniors. Pellegrino has scored a team-high 23 goals.

“This season has been an opportunity for young kids and new players to step up, and into roles that help develop the team aspect that we need to improve to continue to compete at a high varsity level,” Corddry said. “Our main priority this season is to elevate the fundamental skills of our team, and to play with cohesion and a single purpose, at all times. … I think our group is not satisfied being average and with some more had work and effort this group could become quite good.”
