Seriously seeking gardens!

Courtesy of: Lila & Dave Johnson Lila and Dave Johnson get much pleasure out of their yard, as do most gardeners. The annual Mill Creek Garden Club Tour is your opportunity to share that love with others.

Mill Creek Garden Club needs you, well more specifically, your garden for their June 23, 2018, Mill Creek Garden Tour.

The old saying, “Variety is the spice of life” applies to gardens as well.  They can be any style or size, and no garden is perfect, but a focus of interest might include one or more of these: shade beds thriving in our NW climate; a butterfly garden with flowers to attract; a colorful display of annuals and perennials; a mood-setting water feature surrounded by native plants; a recent yard make-over that changed the function of your yard; a vegetable, rose or rain garden; a collection of conifers, Japanese Maples, ferns or hydrangeas; interesting art or sculptures throughout and so on.

Both the front and back gardens should have interest, and it is assumed that the garden will be well-maintained with an ease of access to the back yard.

Why show your garden?  If you chat with previous tour homeowners, almost to a person they viewed their participation as a positive experience.  Several said it gave them a reason to make the garden upgrades that have been on their “to do” list for years; several are still basking in the glow of the compliments they received from tour goers—what gardener doesn’t like to hear “Your yard is beautiful!”

A couple have joined MCGC since tour participation because they really liked the garden club volunteers.   It’s also a way to mingle with people in and out of our community—gardeners are the nicest people and so are those who love to tour others’ gardens.

And if your garden is lovely and a source of pride, why not share it with others?

Plus, you’d be helping Mill Creek Garden Club with its biggest fundraising event of the year.  You provide the garden, and MCGC does everything else, including helping with all the visitors on tour day.

If you’d like to be considered for the 2018 Tour, go to, click on “Garden Tour” and there you’ll find “Garden Application.”

Fill it out, hit send, and you will be contacted by a committee member to arrange a date to view your garden.   Do it today!
